Ursa, officially the Federation of Ursa (Rodinese Ursan: Федерация Урса, Libraelized Ursan: Federatsiya Ursa, Kuzeyi: Ursa Federasyonu) is the long-standing power of the north. The nation encompasses the Ursan continent, its large capital located at its heart. It was the former occupier of the Hydrus Commonwealth territories. Similar to Orion, the central government itself is very corrupt, but without a booming economy, there is nothing for the people to be proud of. Anti-government protests and social movements occur often throughout the country.

Centauran Wars[]
By 1937, the N.C.A. had come dangerously close to opening the encirclement of the Columban Range. At this time, the Federation of Ursa had contacted the Antares Imperium. Seeking Antarean favor, as well as production capabilities located in Tucana, Ursa offered a military alliance and help against the N.C.A. Antares, in their desperate hour, accepted, establishing the Solstice. Ursan forces swiftly captured Tucanese islands in the Libran Ocean, then made landfall on the Centauran continent in 1938. Making landings all across Tucana and northwest Riaa, Ursan forces were quickly able to make advances throughout much of the lesser defended Riaan north. The industrial and urban lands of Tucana were a tougher gambit, however, and forced a more meticulous campaign.
With N.C.A. forces now routed northwards, the Antarean Imperial Army was able to make great advances northwards, cutting through the heart of Riaa. At this time, the Antarean Annulus Fleet had also completed its mobilization and now contested the seas, using aircraft carriers to bring air support north, and monitors to act as coastal artillery. By 1940, both Riaa and Tucana had capitulated, leaving only Centauri. Antarean Shokktroopers traveled north to conduct the siege, while Ursan and Antarean ships enacted a blockade.
In the aftermath of the war, Ursa relinquished dominion of Tucana over to Antares, under the Skorpii Riaa system. In return, many Tucanese factories and industry were repurposed to build Ursa's own fleets and military in the years leading up to the Forman War. Ursa kept the Tucanese islands they conquered as well.
Language[]
As the successor of the fallen Rodinese Mandate, the entirety of Ursa speaks Rodinese (Russian), otherwise known as Ursan. Most of northern Ursa writes in traditional cyrillic but most of southern Ursa writes in romanized Ursan, something the Ursan government notably embraces. Librae is also a minority language in the southern parts. Due to the expansive influences of the Mandate, all of northern Centaura speaks Ursan, with it being a minority language in Canis and Hydrus coasts.
In ancient times, some people in Ursa, known as the Kuzey Tribe, spoke Kuzeyi (Turkish/Türk). While extinct by the 1900s, remnants of the language remain; Ursan ship names contain Turkish words (Ex: Merak).
