Kelson Village is a Team Deathmatch map in Centaura. It is the fourth map of the Southern Corvus War.
Lore
" | Do you smell that? It reeks of pepper. |
" |
The stalemates of 1910 prompted the Corvuns to resort to a new weapon in the hopes of breaking through Cetan defenses; Chlorine gas, it began as an industrial chemical used in the inner cities for sanitation, though it proved devastating when repurposed as a weapon. However, the Cetans soon developed countermeasures such as gas masks and filters to protect their troops.
Initially caught off guard by the introduction of chlorine gas, the Cetans would suffer significant setbacks, losing miles of territory.
It is late 1911, and the Cetans find themselves steadily pushed back under the weight of this new and lethal weapon.
Gameplay
Kelson Village consists of six houses along a road, with a trench line running alongside the river side of it. The majority of combat, however, will take place near the center of the map, where the bushes are. These bushes can be used for ambushes or for concealing movement. A major element of the map is the chlorine gas, which not only obscures sight further, but also introduces the Gas Poisoning mechanic; should the player's health go below 50, the player will be poisoned until they are healed by a medic or die. There is no artillery present in this map, however both teams are limited to 250 lives in this map, meaning it is important to not die quickly.
A good strategy on this map is to hide behind the bushes in the center and ambush unsuspecting enemies. These bushes are nearly opaque and as such are very hard to see through, providing excellent cover for attacking and retreating. Flanking along the riverside is also a good strategy; as most of the fighting will take place elsewhere, you can flank along the riverside and sneak up to the enemy team's spawn area, allowing you to easily wipe people as they spawn in.
Owing to the thick fog caused by the chlorine gas, visibility on this map is heavily reduced, though your sight is slightly improved when aiming. Be careful of incoming enemies or ambushes and use this to your advantage to confuse enemies and to seek cover when on low health. If you're playing aggressively, pick Medic as you will be able to heal yourself and others up while attacking.

"The air has not cleared. It has been three days — the air is getting to our minds. We’ve been in it for so long that the pungent smell of pepper and pineapple has gone away. We can no longer smell it, but we know it’s still there.
And we wait. During these three days, men have gone mad and taken off their masks, only to cough their pulped, bloody lungs out minutes later. But orders are orders, and we have been ordered to stay and protect this village. We do not know when the enemy is coming, but I know that they will storm over us like an unstoppable stampede. We are not the strong and able men we were three days ago.
We cannot eat. Our food has been contaminated, and in order to drink, we must take off our masks for no longer than five seconds, somehow managing to get a sip of water in that length. Even then, we can still feel the poison burning our throats, little by little.
We cannot hold out in this green air for much longer. Without food and proper health, I fear that our officers have ordered us to die.”

Trivia
- This is the first Team Deathmatch map.
- This is the first map to feature Chemical Weapons, Chlorine gas being present on this map throughout.
- This is the first map to not feature specific deploy points or a top-down map.
- There are wind chimes on this map that can sway and emit noise.
- The windows in the houses can be broken with firearms.
- The reason for there being armored cars which do not shoot back is because the crew were killed by the Chlorine Gas.
- The map is made in collaboration with the Verdun Development Team who helped with some of the houses.
- Regular voice lines said by soldiers are muffled by the gas masks, albeit they're still understandable.
- On the first day of launch, screaming from bayonet charges were not muffled.
- The unknown Cetan corporal noted that the chlorine gas smelled like pepper and pineapples and that it smelled pungent. In real life, WW1 veterans report that chlorine gas did smell like a mix of pineapples and pepper and had a strong smell to it.
- This is so far the only map where Officers have no whistle due to it being technically unusable while wearing a gas mask.
- For a brief time, during the first hour of the launch, Officers still had access to the whistle. This was quickly removed after.
- Before V3.4.0, both teams had 400 lives.
