In Centaura, a player-character can experience numerous effects in response to the environment and interactions with other player-characters. These serve to create a more immersive experience.
If a player has the Uparmored perk equipped and gets shot in the head, their brow plate will deflect the shot. However, the impact will cause the player to become concussed, with their vision becoming blurry and extremely saturated for a few seconds.
Decapitation & Dismemberment
Being shot in the head, hit by a powerful weapon, or near an explosion
Being shot in the head by a sufficiently powerful weapon (such as the Anti-Tank Rifle) may cause the player's head to explode. Similarly, being too close to an explosion or hit by an Anti-Tank Rifle may result in the loss of limbs.
Being set on fire will cause the player to begin burning and attempting to put out the fire with their hands. While on fire, they cannot use weapons or equipment and will burn until they die. If the player has the Coolheadedperk, they will be able to use weapons and tools while on fire, but will burn to death faster.
Hearing Loss
Being in proximity to an explosion
Standing too close to an explosion may cause temporary hearing damage, making all sounds muffled and the screen slightly blurred for a few seconds. In extreme cases, permanent hearing loss occurs, muting all sounds except for a faint ringing, lasting until the player's death. This effect can be disabled in the settings.
Helmet loss
Being hit in the head
A hit to the head may be deflected by the player's helmet, resulting in the helmet flying off and being unrecoverable.
Additional Information[]
Effect
Description
Screen Effects
Being near a player who dies from an explosion can cause blood to splatter onto the player's screen, limiting visibility.
Voice Lines
A player will respond vocally to various stimuli. This includes calling for a medic after being injured, alerting others to incoming artillery, futilely begging for artillery to stop (or rambling in madness when it doesn't), or screaming in pain after being set on fire. Voice lines are muffled when wearing a gas mask or other face covering.
Trivia[]
Many voice lines in Centaura are from EA's Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 3.
Healing players set on fire using the bandage is possible, however this does not stop the fire and only postpones the player’s death for a few more seconds. Doing this yields the “FEEDING THE FIRE” badge.
There was a plan to be able to re-equip a helmet at an equipment crate if it was lost, but this was never implemented.
