In the wake of the 1886 Cetan annexation of South Corvus, the Corvun Army became a key instrument to stability and the reclamation of South Corvus. Despite Corvus' smaller population, their army was much larger in size than the Cetan Imperial Army's, thanks to revanchist rearmament and recruitment of citizens eager to inflict hell on the Cetans for creating their atrocious living conditions. This would be a deciding factor in the initial stages of the Southern Corvus War.
Army of the Confederation[]
After the annexation of South Corvus resulted in a freefall of the Corvun economy, mass unrest would grow amongst the populace. The breakdown of civilization led to the deployment of the Corvun Army into the cities, where they would act as law enforcement in lieu of the police department. However, the soldiers, too, felt the impact of poverty.
By 1900, Corvun city streets were the most dangerous places in the country. Murders and crimes were a common everyday occurrence among the civilian population, and the Corvun Army itself saw a decline in its ability to enforce the law. Many soldiers would end up engaging in lawbreaking activity and accepting bribes. They were no better than the civilians whom they were supposed to police.
The social instability of the urban centers did not seem to be a bad thing for the government. In 1905, the Corvun government realized they could potentially use the anger and frustration of the citizens to enlist them into the Army in an effort to retake South Corvus. Additionally, their survival instincts from the cities could also help them live through a firefight. In just 3 years, the number of personnel in the military quadrupled. Propaganda was instilled into the soldiers, and they all agreed that the Cetans were to blame for their hardships. Thus, they would show no mercy to the enemy.
In 1907, enough intelligence was gathered to determine that the Cetan army was undermanned. Believing it was a numbers game, Corvun army generals decided the best course of action was to take back South Corvus. A year later, they crossed over the border, with the majority of the soldiers fueled by revenge for the suffering the Cetans had inadvertently caused their nation.

Corvun Battleship (CS Rex)
The Corvun Navy is a token force compared to Cetus, primarily consisting of lighter ships. According to Cloudy, all of the Corvun battleships were destroyed by the Cetan Navy apart from one, mainly due to incompetent leadership.[1]
A Fleet of Iron.
In the later half of the 1830-s, Corvus started converting their wooden sail ships to possess steam engines, allowing them to effectively sail wherever, whenever, all together in any weather. Alongside this, the Corvun navy researched the effectiveness of a warship built of iron. Results from experiments showed that an iron hull’s strength against shots faltered as the temperature got colder, although this wasn’t a huge setback since the oceans surrounding Corvus were relatively warm. The Corvun navy officially began its transition from wooden tall ships to iron-hulled ships in 1848, making it the first naval force to field ships made purely of iron.
The Corvun Admiralty agreed that ships impervious to cannonades were entirely within possibility and began further development on armored vessels as a result. Corvus would lay down and launch CS Kersing and CS Harstead in 1850, a set of iron ships with extensive armouring around sensitive components -- The citadel. With this, the first ironclads were born. In its wake was a continent wide craze, as all the Centauran navies scrambled to acquire their own ironclads.
While their armour was impregnable, their artillery was no stronger than a frigate. The issue of armament was later resolved with CS Dramon, a monstrous 42 gun ironclad brandishing 12 of the latest 95 pounder breech-loading rifles.
The aforementioned CS Dramon never saw combat, as noone in the Inanis was foolish enough to engage such a beast. Instead she performed as a deterrent, eventually rotting away in harbour till it was broken up for iron in 1888.
In the mere span of 8 years, Cetus’ 12 century long dominance over the Inanis ocean was dismantled. Still, Corvus’ authority at sea fell apart after 3 decades of rule.
Constructed alongside CS Dramon was another ironclad, CS Southpost. She was a small 8 gun corvette, which was built on a Central Battery scheme which compressed the gun deck into a small heavily armoured compartment. She is also the first Cruiser.
Devised and constructed in 1856 was the first Barbette-ship CS Lycus, a transmutative variant of the Central Battery scheme, adapted to house the ever increasing sizes of naval guns, which otherwise couldn’t fit inside a gun deck. The barbette-ship achieved this by raising an armoured wall, -- a barbette around the naval gun, protecting the gun crew from incoming fire. It could also accommodate a ram deep in the ship for the safer, more reliable muzzle-loading rifles, which could be spun around, depressed to the angle of the rams and reloaded. All without a single gun crew going over the parapet.

Corvun Airforce[]

Unnamed Corvun Airship in Capri Valley
First used in the Southern Corvus War, airships were put into action as reconnaissance and mothership aircraft. Corvun airships were particularly used as flying aircraft carriers, holding up to eight fighters in one airship. Later in the war, airships would be used as high-level bombers which fighters of that period could not reach.
