In Centaura, firearms are classified based on the type/caliber, which also affects their damage multiplier and overall range damage.

The main differences between all of them are:

  • Rifles are usually higher in caliber, being able to more damage towards the head by 2x and lower damage drop off at distant targets, though they are often slower firing and lower in magazine capacity.
  • Submachine guns are lower in caliber, meaning they often can fit more bullets into their magazine and achieve a higher fire rate, but at the overall cost of less damage towards the head by 1.5x and high damage drop off at range.
  • Revolvers while smaller in caliber are still able to deal 2x headshot damage at distant targets but have a slower reload without a speed loader.
  • Shotguns come in buckshot, allowing them to deal massive damage at closer ranges in a single shot but drop off heavily at further ranges and limited by magazine capacity. One exception to this is the Decima Shotgun, which uses slugs instead.
  • Machine guns fire rifle caliber rounds, being able to deal heavy damage up close and shake the player's screen but has bad accuracy, short detection range and are only given to AI at the moment.
